Sports Competitions
Children from years 5 and 6 represented Holy Trinity this week at the Netball Youth Games and then at a Football Tournament. We are super proud of the Netball Team and the Football Team!
The Netball team emerged group winners by winning 2 matches and drawing the last match to top the table and qualify to the semi finals next year. Well done team.
The Football Team, were playing on Friday in Leyton at a tournament, they did very well and made it through to the semi finals!
Community Action at Holy Trinity
On Thursday this week Rev Laura introduced the children at Holy Trinity to a new community action that children can be involved with.
The aim of the community action is to introduce children to the new Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodley, and to help them consider how they have power to change things in their neighbourhood.
As well as being our new Mayor, Caroline has the portfolio for families, parks and leisure in Hackney. Rev Laura has invited the children to be involved in a local campaign for toilets to be fitted in Stonebridge Park Haggerston, known as ‘Snake Park’ by most children, for its long snake in the playground.
The children can be involved in the action by bringing in a cardboard loo roll to school and making a loo roll person at lunchtimes. They can put a message on the loo roll person if they wish. Older children might want to do something different like make a short film message for Caroline Woodley.
We will then invite Caroline to the school to present her with these things and ask her to listen to the ideas the children have for how Hackney can be made a better place.
