A group of children from Year 5 and 6 who make up our Netball Team attended the final Hackney based competition this week at the Eastway Sports Hub. They played three games and have been crowned the Hackney Netball Champions!!! We are so proud of them. These games were also the final qualifier into the Netball Youth Games. This means that this team have now also qualified to participate in Netball Youth Games, first we conquer Hackney, next London.
As you will be aware from the letters and emails that have gone out the school and 3 – 4 year old Nursery is closed to children on Wednesday 1st February due to industrial action. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over teachers’ pay and school funding, and not because of any issues at our school. The recent pay rises, although welcome, were unfunded meaning that schools with already over stretched budgets are having to find ways to find the extra money needed. In our school alone this is nearly £100,000 we need to find resulting in reduced staffing and extra curricular activities.
There are four announced dates for strike action:

We have a fully packed lost property box in the front office at the school, we are finding so many pieces of almost brand new clothing across the school that are unnamed, please pop into the front office to get your child’s clothing if you are missing any. Please name your children’s belongings and when we find things we will return them to classes.
