School Planner – Updates and more to come
There is the school planner above for the Autumn Term, if you click on the image there is a PDF that will open that is clearer to read and show you the rest of the school year. As more trips and events are booked, these will be added to the school planner across the year.
School Lunches – Clean Plates and Cutlery
The school menu is planned and checked to meet the standards set by the government to ensure that all meals provided give a healthy balance of the nutrition that the children need. It is cooked fresh in school by our onsite chef and offers the children a wide variety of tastes and flavour combinations.
In school this week we have begun supporting the children to eat as much as they can of their food and to use their cutlery correctly. With the children in Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2 we will be practising with the children in class too, helping them learn how to use their knife and fork. Continuing this practise at home with your children will support them to be correctly using cutlery much more quickly. We thank you in advance for your support with this.

Ahbib in Year 6 for for showing outstanding behaviour all week.
I look forward to chatting with you next week about how you achieved Hot Chocolate with the Head.
Water Bottles – Please Leave Them at Home
In school we no longer need children to bring water bottles. Children have access to water throughout the day, in the classroom and playgrounds through the water fountains and in the lunch hall with cups and jugs of water that all children are encouraged to use. The water fountains are cleaned daily and are always available for children to use. From September 2024, please leave water bottles at home.
Bags Only for Books & Lunches
Your child needs to bring a bag to school each day containing a book to read (from home or school), their home school reading diary and their lunchbox, if they have a packed lunch. Please ensure that this is clearly named as is their lunchbox if they have one.
Packed Lunches – Ensure They are Healthy
The food cooked in school each day is planned and checked to meet the standards set by the government to ensure that all meals provided give a healthy balance. It is crucial that if your child has a packed lunch from home that they are also given a packed lunch that is healthy. There are many benefits to a healthy packed lunch.
It will help your child to consume a healthier diet & encourage life-long good eating habits.
They will have better levels of concentration & energy throughout the day.
It will support your child to have better oral health & to maintain a healthy weight.
A healthy packed lunch can be a great opportunity to contribute to your child’s 5-a-day.
You know exactly what is included in their lunch so can see what is eaten, as well as control portion sizes.
It can reduce food waste– eg . leftovers from home can be used to make a healthy lunch
If children come to school with a healthy, varied lunchbox it can help to encourage others to try new foods
We are be closely monitoring packed lunches to ensure that they are healthy. A trolley will be available at the school gate for children to drop off their packed lunch and it will be waiting for them in the school hall later. Please ensure that if your child has a packed lunch that it is clearly labelled and ready to drop off as they come through the gates in the morning. We are on a sustainability drive in school, lead by the school council and so we are asking parents and carers who are providing packed lunch to avoid prepackaged food and that with single use plastic. The link below provides lots of information and ideas, including recipes for packed lunches.

We will be running After School Enrichment Clubs (3:30 – 4:30) from Monday 16th September 2024.
Extended Day Change to Collection Times
The small change is now in place to the way that the Extended Day (6 o’clock club) is run. Rather than children being collected from 4:30 – 6pm, the club will be open for collections from 5:45 – 6pm. This means that if the children are in Extended Day (6 o’clock club) they can only be collected between 5:45 – 6pm.
