Class Representatives
Each class elects two School Council representatives at the beginning of the academic year. This democratic process empowers pupils to choose peers who will represent their views and ideas.
Once elected, representatives take part in dedicated training to help them develop the skills needed to be effective councillors — including leadership, communication, teamwork and responsibility.
Weekly Meetings
The School Council meets once a week with Miss Mackenzie to discuss ideas, suggestions and issues raised by pupils across the school.
These meetings provide a structured opportunity for representatives to:
-
Share feedback from their classes
-
Discuss improvements and new initiatives
-
Plan upcoming events
-
Reflect on previous actions and outcomes
Gathering Pupil Voice
Every fortnight, School Council representatives:
-
Lead an in-class meeting to gather the views of their classmates
-
Provide feedback on discussions and decisions from previous Council meetings
This ensures that all pupils have a platform to contribute to school life and feel involved in shaping their environment.
Leading Whole-School Initiatives
The School Council takes an active leadership role in organising and promoting key events, including:
-
Anti-Bullying Week
-
Children in Need
-
Christmas Jumper Day
Through these initiatives, pupils develop confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of community spirit.
Developing Future Leaders
Being part of the School Council helps pupils to:
-
Build confidence and leadership skills
-
Learn about democracy and responsibility
-
Develop teamwork and communication skills
-
Make a positive difference within the school and wider community
We are proud of the important role our School Council plays in shaping our school and strengthening our community.
