Collective Worship
The school enjoys an active partnership with our local parish church, Holy Trinity. We have a daily act of Christian collective worship for the whole school community. Collective worship is inclusive, invitational and inspiring and designed to support and contribute to the spiritual flourishing of all
Collective worship is rooted in our Christian vision and is designed to be invitational and inspirational, enabling pupils and adults to flourish spiritually, emotionally and socially. We aim to teach children about the beliefs and customs of other faiths, to foster sensitivity and understanding towards those whose religion and cultures are different from their own.
Worship follows a familiar structure which is accessible to all, regardless of academic ability, special educational need, faith or background. This consistency is designed to provide security and belonging and to support pupils to engage confidently and meaningfully. Inclusive language, accessible prayers and varied types of participation ensure that pupils of all faiths and none can engage in worship. Each act of worship begins with a shared call-and-response prayer and pupils are invited to light the candle, which symbolises Jesus as the Light of the World and our shared aspiration to reflect that light through our actions and attitudes. Each collective worship includes a Bible teaching, the school verse, a hymn and prayer. Time is intentionally built in for stillness, reflection and personal response, allowing pupils to consider their own relationship with God, their inner life and their place in the world. Pupils are encouraged to ask ‘big questions’ and to engage with the mystery and majesty of God, fostering awe and wonder.
Clergy-led worship takes place weekly, with further worship in church for significant points in the liturgical calendar, such as Easter, Christmas and Candlemas. Monthly Holy Moly family services strengthen links between school, church and families, supporting pupils’ spiritual development beyond the school day. Holy Moly services are usually on the first Wednesday of the month, and our school choir performs at each service. Places in the school choir are free on a first-come, first-served basis.
We follow the Collective Worship Calendar, based on the Lectionary.
