Art should enable children to express and communicate what they see, feel and think. Children should experiment and explore their ideas, use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials, techniques and processes. Self-evaluation of work is encouraged and children are taught how to be reflective & analytical to achieve their goals. We believe every child has an inner artist waiting to be unveiled!
The Curriculum
The basis of the Art and Design Technology curriculum is to teach children about famous artists and art movements as well as teaching them the skills of art and design technology, through range of media. Lessons are often closely linked to the topic being studied or might take place over a full day.
At Holy Trinity we focus on ensuring that children’s artwork is celebrated across the school and we hold many sharing events such as our International evening and come learn with me events. Not only is children’s creativity now evident in their classrooms; we have also had successful art shows and worked with a range of artists. We have carried out work with local artists to create some of the wonderful pieces around the school. We have an art room that is dedicated to all things creative!
All children have the opportunity to visit galleries to be inspired by art and to use this to motivate them to improve their skills.
