Classifying leaves in Year 1

In Science we classified leaves. At first we did this in whichever way we chose. Some of us chose to classify as big or small others classified as dark or light green. After this Miss McConnell asked us to classify the leaves as either thick and waxy or thin and soft. We found that the holly and olive leaves were much more thick and waxy than the other leaves. Finally we listened to a song all about Deciduous and Evergreen trees. We found out that the thick waxy, leaves came from deciduous trees that lose their leaves in Winter and the thin leaves come from the evergreen trees that store water in the Winter.
