Perimeter in Year 4 Maths Lessons

In maths this week, Year 4 have been learning about measuring and calculating perimeter. We began by measuring using string around found objects in the classroom and then straightening out the string. Some of us thought that the perimeter looked longer when it was straight but we remembered that this was just a trick for our eyes. Once we had got the hang of working in the concrete, we worked in the abstract. We learned that perimeter is calculated by adding all the sides of a shape together.
