02 May Minibeast Learning in Nursery
This week, we focused on overlearning the story “Aaaargh, Spider!” by reenacting it with props from our small world tray. The children really got into character and brought the story to life! We also enjoyed making spider webs using lollipop sticks and thread—a fun way to strengthen our fine motor skills.
At the playdough table, we discovered an exciting dice game. The children rolled the dice, counted the dots and used the playdough mat to build different parts of a spider, step by step. It was a great mix of counting, creativity and hands-on play.
This week, we also started practising writing our names!
The highlight of the week was our minibeast hunt in the playground! Armed with magnifying glasses and identification sheets, the children turned into little detectives. They searched under rocks, on leaves, in the mud and close to our pond! We found caterpillars, bees, flies, ladybirds and ants! It was a brilliant way to explore the natural world up close.
