Exploring Plants in Nursery

This week, we kicked off our new topic—plants—with the story “Lola Plants a Garden.” The children loved getting to know Lola and learning about how she planted her very own garden.

Inspired by the story, we explored the different parts of a plant and discovered what each part does. Roots, stems, leaves and flowers—all with their own special jobs!

We put our creativity to work by drawing our favourite flowers and even learning how to plant a seed ourselves—getting ready to try it ourselves next week!

In maths, we explored capacity, comparing objects that hold more and less. We revisited this key vocabulary along with the Makaton signs to support understanding.

It’s been a fun and fascinating start to our plant adventure—more green fun to come next week!
