17 May Nursery Enjoy Planting, Nature and Language Learning
This week, we continued our story Lola Plants a Garden with a real-life planting experience. On Friday, the children began a science experiment by planting beans in cotton balls. We talked about what plants need in order to grow and why plants are so important to our world.
We also enjoyed some nature-inspired creative activities. The children made beautiful flowers using cupcake cases and a variety of craft materials. They also explored nature more closely by tracing real branches and leaves, noticing their different shapes and textures.
In maths, we focused on understanding and anticipating different times of the day, such as mealtimes and home time. Using our visual timetable, the children practised using language such as “before” and “later,” and also learned the Makaton signs to support their understanding.
