27 May Lots of Learning in Nursery!
This week in Nursery, we wrapped up our story Lola Plants a Garden by revisiting everything we have learned about plants and planting seeds. On Thursday, we were very excited to discover that some of the beans we planted last week had already started to sprout roots — what a wonderful surprise!
The highlight of the week was our visit to Dalston Library. The children had a fantastic time listening to stories about minibeasts, read by the very funny and lively librarian Michael, who kept everyone engaged and entertained throughout the session.
In Maths, we focused on sequencing events using words such as “first” and “then.” The children enjoyed practising how to put steps in the correct order through fun, hands-on activities like making a jam sandwich and dressing a doll.
On Friday, we read Nighttime Symphony by Timbaland. Inspired by the story, we carried out a science experiment where we explored how to recreate nighttime sounds using recycled objects. The children loved experimenting with different materials and listening carefully to the sounds they could make.
