Painting with Cars: Mark Making in the Two Year Old Room

We all really enjoyed experimenting with paint – mixing different colours, rolling our chosen cars on the paint, getting different patterns and also painting them!

In addition to the fun, we also had an opportunity to improve many skills, like:

– hand eye coordination: by guiding our car’s wheels onto the paint and aligning our eyes with our hand movements

– gross motor skills: through pushing cars using our shoulders and arms

– sensory skills: through touching and feeling the paint

– expanding our vocabulary: using action words like roll, crash, fast and sticky.

We also learned that pressing a wheel creates different marks and patterns, depending on the car!
