07 Nov Nursery Start their New Topic: Pets!
We’ve had an exciting week in Nursery as we introduced our new topic: Pets!
The children were full of enthusiasm, sharing stories about their own pets and learning how to care for animals. From fluffy cats and playful dogs to cuddly rabbits, they couldn’t stop talking about their favourite furry friends!
To end the week, the children drew pictures of their favourite pets. The results were wonderful — a colourful collection of imaginative artwork featuring everything from bright bunnies to adventurous cats. It was lovely to see the variety of pets they know and love!
Our topic tray also transformed into a vet’s office, where the children enjoyed pretending to be vets, caring for the animals on the little “beds”. They were so excited to learn new vocabulary, including vet, stethoscope and vaccination. Through role-play, they began to explore how vets help animals stay healthy and look after them when they are poorly.
In RE, we began exploring the wonderful story of Christmas and the birth of Jesus. The children were introduced to the Nativity story and learned about Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, the baby Jesus lying in a manger, and the special visitors who came to see him. We talked about how Christmas is a time when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus and share love, kindness and joy with others. The children enjoyed looking at Nativity pictures and talking about the different characters in the story.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend! We look forward to another exciting week of learning, exploring and discovering more about our wonderful animal friends.
