28 Oct Celebrating Black History Month in Nursery
This week, we had a wonderful time celebrating Black History Month! The children took part in some exciting activities which helped them to explore and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of Black history.
We kicked off the week by learning about the amazing artist Howardena Pindell. The children got creative and recreated her vibrant, abstract artwork using hole punchers, cutters, glue and little circles of paper. It was a fun way to introduce them to the world of contemporary art, while encouraging their artistic expression and fine motor skills!
We read the inspiring book Ella: The Queen of Jazz—a delightful tale about the life and achievements of the legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald. The children were captivated by Ella’s story, and we had lots of fun during our music and movement session where they danced, played musical instruments and sang a special song about Ella Fitzgerald. It was a joyful celebration filled with rhythm, sound, and laughter.
