Green Fingers and Bird Feeders in Gardening Club

The Gardening Club sunflowers are really establishing themselves well, but their increasing size and top heaviness meant we had to put some structure in place for them during our session, so we practised our figure of eight knots and tied them so that they can remain upright. We then made bird feeders out of oranges, coffee stirrers and string, filling them with sunflower seeds, which had been bound with mashed banana. Gardening Club children took them home to hang in their gardens or in their local area, and two were placed in our school garden- which will hopefully attract more song birds to our school environment.
