16 Oct Having a Pet-Tastic Time in Nursery!
We’ve had an exciting week in Nursery as we introduced our new topic: Pets!
The children were full of enthusiasm, sharing stories about their own pets and learning how to care for animals. From fluffy cats and playful dogs to cuddly rabbits, they couldn’t stop talking about their favourite furry friends!
To end the week, the children drew pictures of their favourite pets. The results were wonderful — a colourful collection of imaginative artwork, featuring everything from bright bunnies to adventurous cats. It was lovely to see the range of pets they love!
In Maths, we consolidated our counting and subitising skills through the song “Five Little Speckled Frogs.” Our retelling messy tray made the activity extra fun and engaging!
Our topic tray also transformed into a vet’s office, where the children enjoyed pretending to be vets, caring for the animals on the “beds.” They were so excited to learn new words like “vet”, “stethoscope” and “vaccination.”
In RE, we explored our school’s core values — Compassion, Endurance, Faith and Respect. We had a lovely visit from a group of Year 5 girls, who explained what these values mean and how they are lived out in our school community.
It’s been a busy, joyful week of learning and discovery — and our Nursery is already looking forward to more pet-themed fun next week!
