01 Feb Investigating Angles in Year 6 Maths
Miss Mather’s Y6 maths group have been focussing on angles this week. The children were asked to define different types of angles (acute, obtuse, reflex, etc), solved angle problems, and then, having found that the internal angles of an equilateral triangle add up to 180 degrees, the children were asked to explore the question: Is it always true or sometimes true that the internal angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees? The children took the vertices of different types of triangles (acute isosceles, obtuse isosceles and scalene), concluding that it is always true that the internal angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees. We then used this fact to find missing angles within different types of triangles.
