11 Jul Nursery’s Seaside Themed Learning Fun
This week in Nursery, we wrapped up our story “Billy’s Bucket”. The children were fantastic at creating their own versions of the story, adding imaginative new sea creatures and describing what they might find inside Billy’s magical bucket. Their creativity really shone! We also explored fascinating facts about the ocean and its amazing animals. As part of our literacy and topic work, we made a fact file all about octopuses and seahorses. It was so exciting to learn about how octopuses can change colour and how seahorses use their tails to hold on to seaweed!
In maths, we focused on comparing lengths. The children enjoyed measuring and comparing a variety of objects, using language like “longer” and “shorter” with growing confidence.
In art, we explored fun techniques to paint fish. One favourite activity was using forks and paint to create spiky pufferfish—this gave the fish great texture and let the children experiment with new tools in a creative way.
