24 May Nursery’s Week of Learning
This week, we wrapped up our story Lola Plants a Garden with a real-life planting experience! The children got their hands dirty potting seeds and began a science experiment on Monday, planting beans in cotton balls. By Thursday, we were thrilled to discover that some beans had already sprouted roots—what an exciting surprise! We talked about what plants need to grow and why they’re so important to our world.
We also got creative with nature-themed crafts. The children made beautiful flowers using cupcake holders and other materials, and traced real branches with leaves to explore their shapes and textures.
In maths, we focused on sequencing events using words like first and then. The children practised putting steps in order for fun, hands-on activities like making a jam sandwich and dressing a doll. Lots of laughs and learning all around!
