Our Fantastic Black History Service at All Saints Church

We enjoyed a fantastic Black History church service at All Saints Church last week. We celebrated the contributions of the key figures studied by each year group during Black History Month: astronaut Mae Jemison in Year 1, space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock in Year 2, actress, singer, author, presenter and politician Floella Benjamin in Year 3, artist and teacher Alma Thomas in Year 4, journalist and campaigner Claudia Jones in Year 5 and author Sophia Thakur in Year 6. Ms Maxime led us brilliantly in singing worship. We enjoyed singing He Reigns / Awesome God by Kirk Franklin and Sing by Lakewood Live. We heard Bible readings and joined in with prayers from our Prayer Leaders. To finish, we sang along with Year 6, who performed My Lighthouse by Rend Collective. We loved being joined by parents and carers! Thank you Rev Laura, Ms Maxime, Ms Mather and Nick for your work towards such a special celebration.
