Planting Sunflowers in Gardening Club

In this week’s Gardening Club, our focus flower was sunflowers. We looked at the lifecycle of a sunflower, measured out 12 feet (how tall some sunflowers can get!) and then planted our own sunflowers, ready for our Gardening Club ‘Tallest Sunflower’ competition. To end our session, we headed out into the KS1 garden, ready and prepared, with our new gardening gloves on, and we began tidying the space for planting by doing some weeding. We found lots of worms, so we took great care of them, placing them into the soil where they can be helpful in aerating the soil.
