07 Jul Seaside Learning in Nursery
This week in Nursery, we continued reading Billy’s Bucket. The children had a chance to look into Billy’s bucket and use their imagination to say what they could see. Their ideas were wonderful — some shared, “I can see a mermaid dancing with the starfish,” while others said, “I can see a crab hiding in the sand.” We collected all these amazing ideas to create our own Nursery poem about the sea, celebrating everyone’s creative contributions.
Inspired by the book, we made lovely orange crabs using paper plates, paint, and card. The children loved using different tools and materials to bring their crabs to life!
In maths, we explored how things look from different viewpoints, including objects that are near or far away. We enjoyed talking about things from a bird’s eye view and looking at things close up. This helped us learn and use new vocabulary, such as near and far.
In phonics, we learned the new sound T. The children were excited to spot many words that start with this sound and practised writing the letter T while chanting, “down the tower, across the tower!”
