Year 1 Explore the Book ‘Tree’

The Year 1 children have had a fantastic first week back as we begin our new term of learning. This week, the children were introduced to our new text, Tree by Patricia Hegarty, which has already sparked lots of curiosity and excitement.

To deepen our understanding of the story, we explored a range of natural materials using our senses — feeling textures, noticing colours and listening carefully to the sounds they make. The children worked brilliantly to generate adjectives for a forest setting, building rich vocabulary to support their reading and writing.

It’s been a joyful, imaginative start and we’re looking forward to seeing how their ideas continue to grow over the coming weeks.
