02 May Year 1 Visit to Dalston Curve Garden – Summer Project Launch
This week, Year 1 had a wonderful time at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden as part of our summer project. The children explored a beautiful variety of tulips, noticing their colours, shapes and patterns. They were fascinated by how different each one looked. Can you identify any tulip names at home together?
Using their brilliant exploration skills, the children searched the garden for natural materials such as leaves, petals, sticks and stones. They then used these treasures to create their own mini art collages, thinking carefully about texture and design.
Inspired by the work of Eric Carle—an author and illustrator we know well from our writing lessons, especially The Tiny Seed, the children also took part in a craft activity to create a collage garden scene. They layered colours, shapes and painted papers just like Carle, showing fantastic creativity and imagination.
It was a joyful start to our summer project, and we look forward to continuing our work with Laura and the team over the coming weeks.
