Year 1 Weekly Update – Fine Motor Fun & Shape Investigators!

OTTO Handwriting – Pegs and Beads This week, Year 1 have been strengthening their fine motor skills through the OTTO handwriting scheme. The children enjoyed using pegs and beads to build patterns, practise careful finger movements and develop the control they need for confident writing. There was lots of focus, teamwork and proud smiles as their hands grew stronger.

Maths – Exploring 3‑D Stacks In maths, the children became shape investigators. They explored a range of 3‑D shapes to find out which ones can stack, balance or topple. Through hands‑on testing and plenty of giggles, they discovered that some shapes make brilliant towers while others are much trickier to build with.

It’s been a wonderful week of practical learning and growing independence.
