Year 2 Religious Education: Hajj

In RE this term, Year 2 have been answering the big question ‘How does a Muslim show commitment to God (Allah)’? This week, we learned about a special journey or pilgrimage (Hajj) which many Muslims take to show devotion and commitment to their faith. We found out about many aspects of the journey, such as holy sites, ‘Ihram’ (the white clothing worn to unify all Muslims) and the small rocks thrown as a physical act of the rejection of sin. We wrote about which elements of the Hajj we considered to be the most important to Muslims and discussed how they might feel to be one of 3.5 million people each year who take this special journey.
