14 Jun Year 5 and 6 Dalston Peace Mural Project Preparation
This week, Year 5 and 6 have been learning how to sketch a full length picture of themselves in preparation for their contribution to the Dalston Peace Mural project. This is an art project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the incredible Dalston Peace Mural. Year 5 and 6 will be exploring its history and themes and responding creatively to the mural. We are very happy to be working with the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, supported by the Cultural Hackney Fund, to be a part of this important project!
We began by exploring the concept of proportion and scale, before using ‘the ball and socket technique’ to draft the basic structure of the human form. In our next lesson, we will take this a step further and refine our sketches by adding detailed features to our human form. Then we will be creating miniature models of ourselves in workshops with experienced facilitators from the Curve Garden. We will be using a range of materials to go into a scene alongside models of other Hackney residents!
