17 Oct Year 5 Identify the Features of Newspaper Reports
As part of our Black History Month learning, the children have been exploring the inspiring life and legacy of Claudia Jones, a journalist, activist and founder of the Notting Hill Carnival. In English, they investigated the key features of a newspaper article, annotating examples to identify how headlines, introductory paragraphs, quotations and factual information engage readers and communicate important events. They will use their learning to write their own newspaper articles, reporting on Claudia Jones’s remarkable contributions and celebrating her lasting impact on British culture and society.
