Year 1 Identify Features of the Seaside

This week, Year 1 have been busy becoming super observers as they explored the big question: Is this the seaside or not the seaside?

Using a range of photographs and information clues, the children looked closely at landscapes, buildings, natural features and human activity to decide whether each image showed a seaside location. They practised using their brilliant observation skills to spot features such as sand, cliffs, boats, waves and shops.

The children also worked together to ask and answer questions about what they could see. They used sentence stems like “I notice…”, “I think this is because…” and “I wonder if…” to help them explain their ideas clearly.
