17 Oct Engaging with Learning in Nursery
This week, in Literacy, we focused on the story So Much. The children loved joining in and were able to retell the story independently, remembering all the family members, their actions and the words they said! To bring our topic on Birthdays to a delicious end, we baked cupcakes and decorated them with icing. We also used our creativity and imagination to make colourful party hats and decorate balloons, exploring different art techniques of our choice.
In Science, we carried out our very first experiment! The children explored tea leaves and observed how they changed the colour of hot water. We then discussed what makes a good cup of tea, sharing our ideas and observations.
In Maths, we consolidated our counting and subitising skills through the song Five Little Speckled Frogs. Our frog-themed messy tray brought the song to life, making our learning extra fun and engaging!
In RE, we explored the different faiths represented in our wider community. The children enjoyed learning about Sikhism, discovering some of its traditions, beliefs and celebrations. This helped us develop our understanding and appreciation of the different faiths and cultures within our community.
It has been another wonderful week full of stories, creativity, exciting discoveries and fun!
